A gift for Grandad — a figure from a photo that shows his passion

Grandad is easiest to recognise by the place where he spends his time. A house that is forever being done up means a paint roller in his hand, the allotment means a flower, the forest means a backpack and binoculars, and the armchair by the window means a book, a magnifying glass or a mug of tea. The rest we take from the photo: glasses, grey hair, beard, jumper. Not sure where to start? Among the ready-made looks there is a handyman in dungarees, and there is also a pair: a grandma with a grey bun and a grandad in a flat cap. You can change the hairstyle, face and outfit of every look.

In a frame like this there are no parents or aunts — just Grandad and his team. The children’s figures have shorter legs, so you can see at once who is the youngest here. Each grandchild can hold something that recalls what Grandad taught them: a guitar, a book, a tennis racket. The background can be a list of names or a photo of the lake you have been going to together for years. The frame builder shows the number of places in each size, and the version with the parents and Grandma is described on the page family frame with figures.

For a grandad who doesn’t care for knick-knacks, it is better to give something he will carry with him. A keychain is the same figure, only with a snap hook: his granddaughter or grandson in miniature then rides with Grandad to the allotment and to the shops, on his keys. We write about this format separately: personalised figure keychain.

We don’t have an accessory the figure can hold for every hobby — but every hobby can be put into words. Under the figure we print, for example, “Checkmate, Grandad”, “Grandad’s gone fishing — do not disturb”, “Bridge Champion” or the nickname his grandchildren gave him. Stick to one line, two at most: that is what reads comfortably under a figure. The frame background is the place for the grandchildren’s signatures and full wishes.

A birthday gift and a gift for Grandad’s name day differ only in the inscription: one time it is his age, the other just his name with the date. For Christmas, the frame can get festive wishes on the background, and the figure of Grandad — a scarf. In December there are more orders and production can take longer, so a gift for a specific date is best ordered in advance. And if Grandad is just saying goodbye to work, take a look at the page retirement gift.

We send the design preview for approval, and once you say “yes”, we usually ship the order the next business day. Delivery takes 1–3 business days within Poland and 2–6 business days to the EU (other countries: cost confirmed before dispatch), and if the date is close, there's a paid “Express shipping” option in the cart.
