A brick figure made from a photo is now a popular gift for a wedding, a birthday or a colleague’s leaving do. But the phrase ‘LEGO figure from a photo’ covers very different things: a figure assembled from ready-made parts, a figure with custom printing, a micro-brick kit you put together yourself, or just a brick-style picture. We looked at what workshops in Poland and across Europe offer and gathered it all in one place, with customers in Poland and the rest of the EU in mind — so it is easier to choose what you are really looking for.
This article was written by the Kloniko team — we are one of the workshops being compared, so we say so up front. Information about other companies comes from their own websites (as of 3 October 2026), and we link to each one. We deliberately leave out prices — they change often and are best checked at the source. If something has changed, write to us and we will correct the text.
What to look at when comparing workshops
- What the figure is made of. Genuine LEGO® elements fit any set and keep their quality; ABS micro-bricks are a different, smaller system and you usually assemble them yourself.
- Where the likeness comes from. Does someone recreate the person in the photo, or do you pick ready-made parts yourself?
- Whether you see a design before production. For a gift, this matters most — corrections after printing are impossible.
- Whether you get a ready-to-give gift. An assembled figure in packaging, a frame with figures inside, or separate parts?
- Where the parcel ships from and how long it takes. Shipping from Poland, from the EU or from outside the EU (customs duty and VAT).

Kloniko
We make figures from a photo using genuine LEGO® elements, and add the face, clothing, lettering and frame background with our own printing. You can build the figure yourself in the creator with a 3D preview or send us a photo and leave it to a designer — at no extra cost. We build the likeness from the whole look: hairstyle, hair and skin colour, glasses, beard, clothing and a favourite little item in hand. It is a brick style, not a photographic portrait — and we are honest about that.
Before we produce anything, you receive a design for approval; revisions are free and unlimited, and if you do not like the design, we refund 100% of your payment. We make single figures, keyrings and frames with figures from 13×18 to 40×50 cm (up to 50 figures), and custom sizes of up to 1 m. Everything arrives assembled, in gift packaging. We ship from near Warsaw on the next working day after the design is approved; delivery takes 1–3 working days within Poland and 2–6 working days by courier to other EU countries, and we ship to other countries too (cost confirmed before dispatch). The website is available in Polish, English, Ukrainian, Italian and Russian.
Limitations: we do not put logos on figures (a logo can go on the frame background, the stand or the packaging), and we do not recreate celebrities or political, religious or military symbols.
Figurkowe Ramki (Poznań)
Figurkowe Ramki has been running a shop and a blog about frames with figures for years. It uses new, genuine LEGO elements, and you build the figure in their configurator from the parts available — you choose the face from existing LEGO heads, and you do not send a photo. They point out themselves that very short hair or a bald head is hard to find among LEGO parts, and that the availability of elements is not always guaranteed. They have a wide choice of ready-made frames for occasions (wedding, anniversary, birthday) and figures in a blister pack. They print the frame background on photo paper. According to their website, standard frames are ready within 5 working days, and custom designs within 1–2 weeks.
Who it suits: when a general likeness is enough and you want to choose a ready-made frame design.
Extra Extra Bricks (Białystok)
Extra Extra Bricks assembles figures from new, genuine LEGO parts and elements with their own prints. The shop says plainly: ‘We do not create personalised figures based on photos’ (translated from their Polish website) — you choose the head, hair, torso and legs yourself, and you can add a stand with lettering to the figure. They also offer frames, keyrings and individual parts. Their strengths are fast dispatch (1–2 working days) and a large number of reviews: 4.9 on Etsy (733 reviews) and Super Seller status on Allegro.
Who it suits: when you know exactly which parts the figure should have and want to receive it quickly.
minifigs.me (United Kingdom)
minifigs.me is a large British shop with its own prints on genuine LEGO parts — it has over 5,000 reviews on Trustpilot with an average of 4.7. It is one of the few that prints a face from a photo: the ‘Bespoke Head’ is created from a photo or description, with a maximum of 3 such heads per order. Production takes 2–5 working days, and shipping to the EU 5–15 working days (or 1–3 days by DHL express). For orders up to €150 you pay VAT straight away on their website; above that amount, you should expect customs duty. They sell frames and keyrings without a figure — the figure is put together separately, and the ‘Create Your Own Frame’ holds up to two figures. We found no information on their website about a design for approval before printing. The website is in English. We go into more detail in a separate article: an alternative to minifigs.me.
Who it suits: when you want a single head with a face from a photo and do not mind shipping from the UK.
minifiguren.com (Germany)
minifiguren.com uses UV printing on genuine LEGO parts and has a figure configurator with a name, text or graphic. For business orders it prepares a design and a sample. According to its FAQ, custom faces are possible ‘in most cases’, but we found no confirmation that you can send a photo. Important for customers in Poland and most of the EU: the shop ships only to Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and the website is in German.
Micro-brick figures from a photo
Shops such as MyCustomBrickFigures and Prezentify make figures based on a photo, but from ABS micro-bricks rather than LEGO elements. It is a different style — usually a large head and a smaller body — and often a kit you assemble yourself (MyCustomBrickFigures quotes about 30 minutes of building). Parcels come from abroad: according to the websites, 7–15 working days (MyCustomBrickFigures) or 14–21 working days for production (Prezentify). Both shops’ terms and conditions exclude returns of personalised figures that are not faulty — as do those of most workshops.
LEGO® options
On lego.com there is ‘Create a Minifigure’: you choose parts from the catalogue (without printing or lettering), and they arrive unassembled within up to 6 working days, with a maximum of 30 figures per order. Some LEGO stores in Europe also have a LEGO Minifigure Factory machine that prints a torso from ready-made designs — there is no such machine in Poland. None of these options recreates the person in a photo. We look at the differences in more detail in the article brick figure, 3D print or AI avatar.
What to choose — in brief
- The gift should look like a specific person and be ready to give — look for a workshop that works from a photo and shows you a design before production.
- A general likeness is enough, and a ready-made frame design is what counts — configurators with ready-made parts (Figurkowe Ramki, Extra Extra Bricks).
- You only want one head with a face from a photo — minifigs.me, shipped from the UK.
- You enjoy building things yourself and LEGO is not important to you — micro-brick kits.
- You simply want LEGO parts — Create a Minifigure on lego.com.
Frequently asked questions
Will a figure from a photo look like a portrait?
Not at any workshop that works with bricks. A minifigure has its own style, so the likeness comes through the hairstyle, colours, glasses, beard, clothing and small details. The closest you can get to the face in the photo is a head printed from the photo.
Can I order a figure with a company logo?
Workshops using genuine LEGO elements usually do not print logos on figures (minifigs.me says so in its FAQ, and we do not do it either). A logo can go on the frame background, the stand or the packaging — find out more on our corporate gifts page.
How long does it take to get a figure?
From a few days with workshops in Poland to 2–3 weeks for shipments from outside the EU. With us: design, approval, dispatch on the next working day and 1–3 working days for delivery within Poland (2–6 elsewhere in the EU). We explain how it works step by step in our guide how to make a figure from a photo.
